Funds Handling Requirements

  • The Revenue Services Unit processes all student and departmental revenue, including the acceptance of cash, checks, credit cards, electronic funds and e-commerce activities. 
  • Departments wishing to accept payments should complete the appropriate attached forms and contact Revenue Services by phone at 304.293.3880 or through e-mail at fundshandling@mail.wvu.edu.
  • University departments that handle funds (cash, checks, credit cards, electronic funds and e-commerce) must comply with the University-Wide Funds Handling Standard and Guidelines.  
  • Deans, Directors and Department Heads are responsible for implementing and maintaining internal controls by establishing written departmental procedures.  These procedures along with the attached mandatory Funds Handling Forms and Internal Control Questionnaires must be revised annually and submitted to the Revenue Services for approval and are subject to periodic review by Revenue Services and Internal Audit. 
  • Included in this document you will find the University-Wide Funds Handling Standard and Guidelines, mandatory Funds Handling Forms and Internal Control Questionnaires that must be completed and sent to Revenue Services along with your department’s written departmental procedures.
